Renfrew Ravine
Moon Festival
Mission Statement
The themes of the Moon Festival:
- Linking the Asian Mid Autumn celebration with western harvest traditions
- Raising awareness of the environment and caring for the earth that sustains us,
and Renfrew Ravine as our local piece of environment to care for. - Celebrating creativity in the community and providing opportunities for people to participate in creative activities.
Why we do it
- To create something beautiful with and for our neighbours
- To see families outside together, at night in the dark, speaking many languages and enjoying each others company
- To celebrate the full moon
- To go for a twilight walk with lanterns along the ravine - a place we might otherwise avoid after dark
- To listen to great music
- To see beautiful lanterns and their reflections in the stream
- To contemplate
- To marvel at our incredibly talented kids when they perform for us
- To drink tea, eat moon cakes and chat with neighbours
- To enjoy the sensation of a community coming together to celebrate
