Spirit Fish Project

Spirit Fish Project 2009

Imagine standing on the shores of a local lake at twilight listening to music drifting across the water as hundreds of tiny illuminated boats appear from the mouths of several streams. The flotila of exquisitly decorated glowing Spirit Fish drift past guided by paddling stewards on its way to meet up with more Spirit Fish from the Faser Basin watershed on their way to the sea.

Carmen Rosen and Tamara Unroe are currently in the development stage of Spirit Fish which is a watershed awareness and art project. Artists and community members will create their own spirit fish boats, with lanterns illuminating their prayers for the water, that they will float down their local streams to discover their watershed and and how it links to other watersheds as the circulatory system of the land. Eventually large flotillas of Spirit Fish will float to the sea surrounded by art and music.
